Weary in Well-Doing
Life Need:
Everybody seems to get tired.
Tired o whatever it was or is that they began with such
great enthusiasm
One of my sons bugged me and bugged me to be allowed to mow
the lawn, but after he was allowed to he tired of it quite quickly.
It was so "regular."
The Bible recognizes that danger even spiritually.
Bible Learning:
1. Paul warns of it in Gal. 6: 9
Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we
will reap a harvest if we do not give up.
2. In Hebrews 13, the writer suggests a model - Christ, but
also our own leaders - 7 Remember
your leaders, who spoke the word of God to you. Consider the outcome of
their way of life and imitate their faith. 8
Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever.
3. Paul again writes, in 2 Timothy, to remind ourselves of
what is good and true and important - 13
What you heard from me, keep as the pattern of sound teaching,
with faith and love in Christ Jesus.
4. Paul makes very clear our responsibility to one another
in Romans 15 - 1We
who are strong ought to bear with the failings of the weak and not to
please ourselves. 2 Each of
us should please his neighbor for his good, to build him up. 3
For even Christ did not please himself but, as it is written:
"The insults of those who insult you have fallen on me." 4
For everything that was written in the past was written to teach
us, so that through endurance and the encouragement of the Scriptures we
might have
hope. 5 May
the God who gives endurance and encouragement give you a spirit of unity
among yourselves as you follow Christ Jesus, 6
so that with one heart and mouth you may glorify the God and
Father of our Lord Jesus Christ.7Accept
one another, then, just as Christ accepted you, in order to bring praise
to God.
Bible Application:
1. Life isn't always easy what with illnesses, deaths, loss
of family and jobs . . . troubles of every kind.
2. That is why through comfort of the Scriptures - knowing
God's Plan for a coming Kingdom of righteousness, and
3. By encouraging one another in our walk of faith, and
reciprocally, receiving encouragement from others, we renew our
strength.
Life Response:
1. Who doesn't need to be encouraged, so go to where you
can find it at a good God-honoring church that preaches and teaches
Biblical truth,
2. Take time for yourself, but also for your families to go
to conferences and believers for uplift, and
3. Mark out those who are struggling now so you can
encourage them, and in the future, perhaps, they will be the blessing
you need.
